About Hawa Mahal
Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh and designed by Lal Chand Ustad, Hawa Mahal has 953 small windows (jharokhas) across five storeys. It was designed so the royal women could observe street festivities without being seen - the honeycomb façade is one of the most photographed sights in Jaipur. There's no entrance from the famous front facade; the ticket counter and main entrance are around the back, on Sireh Deori Bazaar.

Tips for Visitors
- ✓ Best photo is from the tea stall across the road, not the ticket counter side
- ✓ The main entrance is on the rear side (Sireh Deori Bazaar) - walk around the building from the street-facing facade
- ✓ Before 9 AM is when the street outside is actually empty enough for a clean photo of the facade
- ✓ Tripolia Bazaar right behind it has its own kachori stalls worth a detour
